More and more people are booking their vacations and doing the research online and travel agents are seeing less people walking through their doors. This gradual turn to travel websites has come about because more discounts can be found and you can book the vacation at any time of the day. I still like using a travel agent as it is nice to speak to someone face to face but I still go online to research the place I am traveling to.

It is actually much easier to go to your travel agent armed with all the information including costs as it can make it much easier to find what you are looking for. More importantly, there is no point in them searching for information on vacations that are not within my budget.As every country has different laws, your travel representative can be helpful if you intent to travel to an international destination.

Some countries actually charge a fee to enter and also have restrictions about what you can take in and take out which aren’t usually publicized very well and easy to miss. Whereas the internet is about saving money and convenience, your travel representative is there to ensure you trip is trouble free and that everything you need is organized. Don’t get me wrong, the internet is great but it is not caring and it is always reassuring dealing with a real person.While it is easy and usually cheaper to do all you’re booking online, it is not so helpful when something goes wrong and you have to complain; something the travel agent is there for as well.Seeing a travel agent in person became much more important when my husband to be and I decided to get married outside of America and we needed a great deal of help with booking the whole vacation and wedding.

She was very sweet plus incredibly helpful and by the time I ended the 30 minute conversation with her, she had renewed my faith in them; she had given me many choices of where we could go that we’d have wonderful weather for the month we were planning to travel. She was able to provide a great deal of information, some of which she checked on my behalf and helped with finding out the cost which was obviously a priority. It was this help that enabled us to book the wedding and our vacation almost immediately which was not something we had planned on but there wasn’t anything else left to do. There is another reason why travel agents are better than the internet; you don’t get much of a response from a computer screen when you want to complain.
