Exeter Vacations
When the majority of people discuss taking a vacation in Britain they frequently just mention resorts by the sea such as Southport, Clacton-on-Sea, Bognor Regis and Eastbourne. Sometimes people may debate having a short break in a specific county in England such as the county of Devon in the south of England but not very often do they consider having a short break in the city of Exeter. This article discusses various factors why an Exeter vacation is a great idea.
One of the first reasons for taking a vacation in Exeter is that there is cheap accommodation available with bed and breakfast in Exeter available at roughly £25 a night and lots of places around the £40 – £50 price range.
Obviously there should be more than a minimal price to interest you to stay in a city and Exeter definitely has lots to offer the possible visitor. You will find that there are many top notch visitor attractions in the center of the city and even more close by and if that isn’t sufficient then the city of Plymouth is not too far away and you will find that there is also low cost bed and breakfast in Plymouth and even more incredible tourist attractions. Also there are plenty of breathtaking sites to visit along the nearby coast.
Where To Stay In Exeter
The Drewe Arms
This accommodation is excellent, the rooms are cheap but the actual building is a picturesque seventeenth century thatched inn on the Two Moors Way (a walkers route). It is important to know that it is roughly 15m away from Exeter city center. If you need more luxury the inn also offers four-poster rooms.
The Crawford Hotel
This hotel accommodation is much closer to Exeter’s city center, just over one and a half kilometers. It is a 2 star hotel with reasonable en suite accommodation and, importantly, you can access your room twenty four hours a day, which is great if you are planning on a late night or you need access during the day. You will find there is Free wireless internet access available in the public places of the hotel.
Places To Visit
In the city there are only a few of places which merit your time including; St Peter’s Cathedral, the Royal Albert Museum and Rougemont Castle. As I said earlier there is a small number of close by seaside resorts to see the finest being the old-fashioned villages of Sidmouth, Beer and Seaton.
Further away, in between Exeter and Plymouth is the virtually unpopulated moorland of the Dartmoor National Park with the overall area having a fair few tourist attractions worth visiting including Buckland Abbey, A La Ronde and Buckfast Abbey on the main road, to Plymouth. Along the way you will pass the Torbay area, which includes Paignton, Brixham and Torquay and is frequently called the English Riviera region.
Exeter really is a cool place in which to have a vacation but why not debate having a 2 destination vacation and spend a couple of nights in a nice hotel in Plymouth and travel around the beautiful countryside and coast in between these two superb vacation destinations?
